   Artist Statement

Brenda Ochodnicky returned to her pursuit of visual arts in 2009 after being away for 30-years, involved in her professional career as a business consultant. Her art is inspired by simplicity, realism depicting her subject matter without idealization, and above all by embracing life as it is and not omitting the imperfections. She is also inspired by the works of Andrew Wyeth and Rembrandt; and she respects the Shakers who had a quest for simplicity and perfection as reflected in their fine designs and craftsmanship.

In the mid-1960's Brenda began studying pottery and ceramics (wheel & hand building) and eventually had a small home studio. Her appreciation for Art and being creative were lived out in her professional career as a business consultant and in amateur photography. Brenda is a retired entrepreneur and former owner of CCS Consultants LLC, a firm specializing in business services including business plan writing, and creative services (artistic & writing) including designing logos, brochures, newsletters, marketing materials, and business card design.

Since August 2009 Brenda has been studying under Peggy Smith, who inspires and challenges her to always keep reaching for new levels.
